Bob Abramson

Bob Abramson, a native of San Francisco, was born Dec 22, 1923 in the
City and was awarded
his pilot wings by the Army Air Corps in April 1944 at Stockton Field,
CA (Class of 44-D).

Bob was a 21-year-old co-pilot on B-29s, flying out of Guam in 1945 (29th Bomb Group, 43rd Bomb Squadron). He flew 27 bombing missions over Japan, received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air medal and was promoted to First Lieutenant. Made one forced landing in Iwo Jima due to engine trouble
