Navy Air Corp and awarded pilot wings July 28, 1943 and graduated from flight school in Corpus Christi, TX.  "My favorite airplane to fly?: Liked them all. "

Jim Kensinger was born in Kansas, however, his parents moved back to Missouri when he was only a few months old.    While he lived in several places, including London, England and New Mexico, he spent most of his growing-up-years living with his grandparents on a farm in southwestern Missouri.

After graduating from high school he attended Southwest Missouri State College.   During these school years he worked at various part-time jobs. He enlisted in the Navy in June 1942 as an Aviation Cadet, went through Pre-flight at St. Mary's College in Morago, CA,    Primary at Livermore, CA and then to Corpus Christi, TX.

After receiving his Navy wings he was based in Hollywood, Florida; ATU, Banana River, Florida; Jim joined Squadron VPB- 17 when it was commissioned; was stationed at Harvey Point, N.C., then to the Pacific Theatre in the Spring of 1944.
